Biddall family

Victor Biddall was the grandson of Henry Freeman (an adventurer 'whose hair turned white after landing amongst cannibals and seeing his ship-mates eaten'), and progenitor of the Biddall Family led by his sons Albert, William and George. They toured shows under the name of the Biddall family throughout Great Britain. Much of their business was in fairground entertainment, but they often including animated pictures within, for example, Biddall's Ghost Illusion. Victor Biddall was part of the generation of early showmen who consolidated their interest in cinema by opening permanent cinemas, in his case in the South of Scotland.
