Scottish News and Notes reports on opening of Lewis Picture House in Stornoway

[..] The Provost congratulated the company on the opening of the house, and wished the venture every success. During the past six months they had had a great many soldiers and sailors about the town, and on more than one occasion he had been spoken to on account of the fact that no place of entertainment was provided for them. Now, he was glad to say, that want was supplied, and he had every confidence that the house would be so conducted that those who had misgivings about "the pictures" coming to Stornoway would find that their fears were groundless [...] An interesting programme of pictures was then submitted, and the whole of the day's drawings were divided between the local relief fund and the Soup Kitchen [...] The seating contractors were Messrs. Paterson (Glasgow), Limited, the electrical apparatus and projector were supplied and fitted up by B.B. Pictures, Limited, Glasgow, and will be in charge of Mr. Leo. L. Holmes, formerly of La Scala, Glasgow. The hall is under the experienced management of Mr. N. S. Smith, whose intention it is to provide programmes educative, entertaining, and amusing. The prices of admission are 4d., 6d., and 9d., and the programme is changed on Mondays and Wednesdays.[...]"
