Caroline Merz is a PhD researcher based at the University of Edinburgh. Her research is into film production in Scotland between 1920 and 1928, investigating narrative films produced in Scotland and those that were made on location in Scotland in the silent era. She was previously a journalist, editor and oral historian. A long time ago she did an MA in film studies at the University of East Anglia and taught film history in further and adult education. Her published work includes articles and books on aspects of social history, including the role of women in the British film industry. She is also is a member of Na Clarsairean, the Scottish harp orchestra.
